abstract = "The soybean crop is configured as the primary oilseed produced in
Brazil. Driven by the increase in grain prices and growing demand,
mainly international, soy production has expanded to more regions
to the northeast of Brazil, the example of the MATOPIBA region,
comprised of the Cerrado biome and formed by the states of
Maranh{\~a}o, Tocantins, Piau{\'{\i}} and Bahia. In recent
years, the use of remote sensing techniques has been of
fundamental importance in agricultural planning. The use of
vegetation indices combined with the temporal analysis allows
identifying the spatial dynamics of cultures, featuring its
phenological cycle, at different temporal scales. This study aimed
to examine the evolution of agricultural soybean cultivation in
the municipality of Campos Lindos, state of Tocantins, through
temporal series of MODIS data. The results showed that the
proposed methodology was able to map the expansion of soybean
cultivation during the period of analysis. The expansion of soy
farming occurred in the northeast of the municipality. The values
of cultivated areas, obtained by the proposed method, showed good
consistency in relation to official data, the coefficient of
                         determination (R2) equal to 0.94.",
